$140K Settlement Clears Way For Cannabis Store In Stratford: Report
A nearby church had filed a lawsuit trying to block the town's first cannabis dispensary, according to a report.
STRATFORD, CT — The owners of a proposed cannabis store in Stratford will pay a nearby church $140,000 over a six-year span as part of a settlement approved by a Superior Court judge on Thursday, according to the Connecticut Post.
The Post reports the settlement will allow the cannabis store to open on Honeyspot Road in Stratford, and the Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church will use the funds for improvements on the church property and charitable works in the community.
The church will receive an upfront payment of $80,000 and then $10,000 a year for six years after the store opens for business, according to the Post.
