8 Striped Bass Seized, Suspended Fisherman Arrested In Stratford: PD
One person, who was found to have a suspended fishing license, was arrested and three others were cited in connection with the incident.
STRATFORD, CT — Eight striped bass were seized and one person was arrested after the undersized bass were found hidden along the shoreline of the Housatonic River in Stratford on Sunday, according to police.
Environmental Conservation Police responded on April 23 to a report of undersized striped bass being concealed along the shoreline of the Housatonic River in Stratford, according to officials.
“Officers Bernier, Tefft and Hepburn located 5 Striped Bass,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “K-9 Scout was deployed and located 3 more Striped Bass that were concealed under a wood dock. The investigation resulted in three infractions and one arrest. The subject who was arrested was found to have a suspended fishing license due to numerous previous fishing violations.

“A total of 8 Striped Bass were seized due to minimum length and creel violations. The seized fish were donated to A Place Called Hope which is a birds of prey rehabilitation center.”
