Amazon To Host Event In Stratford For Possible Delivery Partners
Amazon will help interested people start, set up, and manage their own business delivering Amazon packages, an event posting said.
STRATFORD, CT — Amazon will host an information session about its delivery service partner program Wednesday in Stratford.
"Amazon will take an active role in helping interested individuals start, set up, and manage their own business delivering Amazon packages," according to an eventbrite posting about the event.
The Seattle-based e-commerce giant signed a seven-year lease in 2019 for two Stratford buildings at 500 Long Beach Blvd. and 600 Long Beach Blvd, where it will operate a roughly 200,000-square-foot distribution facility. The company could start operations as early as spring, but may not open until summer or fall, Stratford Director of Economic Development Mary Dean said the week that Amazon's plans to move to Stratford were announced.

Dean has referred to the Stratford location as a "last-mile stop" for Amazon, and said outgoing deliveries will only travel about an hour at most to reach their destinations. She has said the company will need six delivery teams with between 40 and 100 drivers each, or up to 600 drivers total.
Wednesday's event will take place 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Riverview Bistro, 946 Ferry Blvd.

Amazon's delivery partners will have access to the company's delivery volume, technology, training, and discounts on branded delivery vehicles, uniforms and insurance, the eventbrite posting said.
The company will also hire managers and sorters for the Stratford facility, Dean has said. Amazon already has several management positions in Stratford listed on its website.
