STRATFORD, CT — It was an exciting week for Red Devil athletics, highlighted by clutch performances and meaningful community engagement.
Baseball
The baseball team earned a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Joel Barlow on Wednesday. Jack Wiltsie delivered an outstanding performance on the mound, pitching a complete-game gem to keep Stratford in control.
The game remained tight until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Evan Wendland drove in a key run with a single. Moments later, Josh Tiberio was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing home the go-ahead run that secured the win for the Red Devils.
Softball
Softball thrilled fans with a dramatic 13–11 walk-off win against Joel Barlow. Freshman Lorelei Schunmann provided the heroics, blasting a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the comeback victory.
It was an exciting and memorable moment that showcased the team’s resilience and determination.
Girls Lacrosse
Girls lacrosse hosted Masuk on Thursday in the annual Alex Archie Foundation Mental Awareness Game. This special event continues to raise awareness and funds in support of mental health initiatives.
Proceeds from the game benefit the Alex Archie Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing scholarships for high school lacrosse players, supporting youth participation through camps and equipment, and assisting developing programs. In addition, the foundation has expanded its mission to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention, encouraging important conversations within our community.
