Stratford Health Department Schedules Back-To-School Immunization Clinics

STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Health Department will hold back-to-school immunization clinics this month for students younger than 19 who need vaccinations required for school entry.

Clinic hours are:

• Thursday, Aug. 6, from 3 to 6 p.m.
• Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 3 to 6 p.m.

The clinics will be held at the Stratford Health Department, 468 Birdseye St., third floor.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be accepted.

"We want families to have easy access to the vaccines their children need for a safe and healthy school year," Health Director Andrea Boissevain said in a statement. "These clinics support working parents and ensure students are prepared for school health requirements."

The department accepts HUSKY insurance. Families with private insurance or no insurance may use a sliding fee scale. Administrative fees are:

• $20 for the first vaccine
• $10 for the second vaccine
• $5 for additional vaccines given the same day
• $20 for a tuberculosis skin test, which requires two appointments

"Vaccinations remain one of our most effective tools in protecting children and the community," Public Health Nursing Supervisor Kris Agapito said. "We are committed to providing compassionate, affordable care to Stratford families."
