Road Closure In Place For Final Phase Of Project In Stratford

The road is closed for the last phase of a utility tower replacement project in Stratford, according to officials.

STRATFORD, CT — The final phase of replacing the 100-year-old utility tower along River Road is underway, according to Mayor David Chess.

Chess said River Road (Route 110) will remain closed to traffic until Sept. 19.

"The CT Department of Transportation and Eversource are conducting the new monopole construction project," Chess wrote in a message to residents. "This project has been in the works for years, and a detour from Main Street to Main Street Putney is in effect.

"We are working closely with the businesses affected by this project, and our Dispatch, Police, Fire, and EMS Departments have a plan to keep operations running as smoothly as possible for everyone impacted."
