1. Stratford Resident Wins Big Lottery Prize (patch.com) — A Stratford resident has claimed a $10,000 prize from a 10X CASH 18th Edition scratch ticket, highlighting a bit of luck close to home. The winning ticket was purchased at a Cumberland Farms in nearby Milford, and the Connecticut Lottery now withholds winners' names unless they give written consent under a new state law.

Stratford Residents Urged To Report Damage From Flooding (patch.com) — Stratford residents dealing with damage from Sunday's flooding are being urged by Mayor David Chess to document their losses through the state's CrisisTrack Damage Self Report system by Oct. 9. Completing the survey will help ensure Stratford's storm impacts are fully counted in a statewide assessment that could influence eligibility for FEMA or SBA disaster programs, even though assistance is not guaranteed.
   

3. Stratford CrierFirst Human Case of West Nile Virus Identified in Stratford (stratfordcrier.com) — Stratford health officials have confirmed the town's first human West Nile virus case this season in a resident hospitalized since late August. The Health and Conservation Departments urge residents to eliminate standing water, use repellent, secure window screens, and limit time outdoors at dawn and dusk to reduce mosquito bites and further infections.

Stratford CrierStratford Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Hispanic Heritage Flag Raising on Sept. 15 and Latin Music Festival on Sept. 20 (stratfordcrier.com) — Stratford is marking Hispanic Heritage Month with a flag-raising at Town Hall on September 15 and a major Latin Music Festival on Paradise Green on September 20. Residents can enjoy live bands, folkloric dance, and over 45 vendors, with nearby parking and encouragement to bring lawn chairs for an afternoon of music and community.
   

5. Lamont says 'rain bomb' overwhelmed parts of Fairfield County (ctmirror.org) — Stratford saw more than four inches of rain in Sunday's intense storm, one of the heaviest single-day totals recorded at Sikorsky Memorial since the 1940s. State officials say Fairfield County flooding from this "rain bomb" may reach federal disaster thresholds, and they're surveying coastal communities to fully assess damage and future infrastructure needs.
