STRATFORD, CT — Water views run through Stratford's most expensive homes for sale. Three of the five priciest listings in town on Zillow.com sit on the river or near the beach, and another borders the 18th hole of a golf course.
No. 1 on the list is 500 River Road, a completely remodeled waterfront house asking $1,925,000. Built in 1996, the 5,030-square-foot home has water views from nearly every room and sits on 0.46 acres. Zillow lists three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and one half bathroom, and the listing says the layout could hold four or five bedrooms. It has been on Zillow for 59 days.
Just behind it is another waterfront home on the Housatonic River, 5060 Main St., at $1,699,000. Built in 1988, the 4,643-square-foot house has three bedrooms, three full bathrooms and one half bathroom on 0.4 acres. A gated entry and stone wall lead to a paver driveway, and the living room, kitchen, family room, solarium and home office all look out on the river and the pool. A new roof and decks are being installed, according to the listing. It has been on Zillow for 409 days.
Rounding out the top three is 35 Fifth Ave. in Lordship, a beach community where the listing suggests getting around by golf cart. The 2009 house, renovated in 2024 and 2025, is steps from the sand with water views and is listed at $1,150,000 after a $100,000 price cut on Aug. 3. It has 3,928 square feet, four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and one half bathroom. It has been on Zillow for 208 days.
No. 4 is 450 James Farm Road, a 2021 Colonial on 2.26 fenced and landscaped acres, at $1,045,000. The 3,028-square-foot house has four bedrooms, two full bathrooms and one half bathroom, with 9-foot ceilings, fruit trees, perennial gardens, patios and a custom fire pit. It has been on Zillow for 178 days.
Closing out the top five is a new home at Oronoque Hills, a development of 11 free-standing homes next to the 18th hole of Oronoque Country Club: 115 Oronoque Hills Road, listed at $989,000. Zillow classifies the 2,630-square-foot home as a condo. It has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and one half bathroom, with 9-foot ceilings and hardwood floors. It has been on Zillow for 101 days.
