Auto Shop Owner Illegally Towed Cars: Stratford Police
Police say the owner of an automotive shop took it upon himself to find "violations" and towed cars without the property owners' consent.

STRATFORD, CT — The owner of an automotive shop in Milford is accused of illegally towing cars from Stratford, according to police. Stephen Verity, 27, of Ansonia, was arrested Oct. 27 on several larceny charges. Stratford Police received several complaints that Verity was illegally towing cars from Stratford, according to Capt. Frank Eannotti.
Eannotti said that Verity, the owner and operator of Steve’s Automotive located at 219 Naugatuck Avenue in Milford, was found to have towed at least 10 cars from the parking lots of the Dock Shopping Center and Sherwood Apartments between Oct. 1 and Oct. 9.
“Verity took it upon himself to find ‘violations’ in the parking lot and towed the vehicles without the consent of the property owners as required by state law,” Eannotti said in a press release.

Verity was arrested on a warrant and charged with one count of first-degree larceny, four counts of second-degree larceny and five counts of third-degree larceny. He is due in court on Nov. 3.
Anyone that has had their vehicle towed by Verity and has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact Detective John Therina at 203-385-4128.
