Bun 'N Burger Does Its Part for Earth Day
Bun 'N Burger recycles 140 gallons of oil each week.
Recycling more than 140 gallons of oil in a single week, Stratford's own Bun ‘N Burger at 3696 Main Street continues to do its share in the community.
Since early 2010, BioPur Inc. has visited Bun ‘N Burger twice a week to collect 100% of the restaurant's used oil. The restaurant receives payment from BioPur and peace-of-mind knowing that its waste oil is being recycled rather than disposed of in a potentially harmful manner.
The used cooking oil is transported from Bun ‘N Burger to a facility in upstate Connecticut where it is cleaned and recycled for use in numerous other products throughout greater New England. BioPur is Connecticut’s first large-scale bio-diesel production facility.

Uses for recycled vegetable oil includes household heating oil, bio-diesel for cars, and other clean energy sources. Recycling cooking oil is a green alternative to dumping the oil into landfills. Bio-diesel is a cleaner alternative to many of the fuel sources we have become accustomed to.
Co-owner Norine Benedetto said, “We are very concerned about the future of our planet, so we are doing what we can to ensure a future for our children and grandchildren.”
