Bunnell's Lincey Bazile is Golden at 2024 Ct. Patriot Games

Bazile now a Bulldog, with a day to remember

On Saturday April 20th Bunnell High School’s Lincey Bazile participated in the Connecticut Patriot Games at Coventry High School. Little did she know the day would become a day to remember for a lifetime.

The Connecticut Patriot Games, in track and field, has been around for many years and sees hundreds of athletes entered into the more than twenty five events.

The Sophomore student athlete in her first year of outdoor track and field for Bunnell championed the Pentathlon Event by taking two first places two second places, and one third place finish in the five event challenge enroute to a Gold Medal finish.

Bazile accomplished the feat in astonishing fashion by finishing with her personal best marks in four out of the five events.

Bazile finished third in the 800 Meter race with a time of 2.37.81. She finished first in the High Jump Event with a jump of 4’-8.25”. In the Shot Put she was first with a heave of 29’ 6”. She was second in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 16.52 seconds and she rounded out the afternoon with a second place finish in the Long Jump Event with a distance of 15’ 3.35”.

Bazile scored a total of 2727 points ahead of Windham Tech’s Mackenzie Braunstein who had 2458 points and Ginny Mullen of Lewis Mills High School at 2444 points.

Bazile came to Bunnell on March 11th as a transfer from New Rochelle High School where she enjoyed a successful Indoor Track and Field season for the Huguenots.

Bazile as a Huguenot qualified for the 2024 Nike Indoor Track and Field Nationals where she had a personal best in the 55 Hurdles with a 9.055 second mark.

Also, at the Nike Indoor Nationals she was part of the 4X55 Shuttle Hurdle team of Alivia Smith, Alexis Smith, Bazile, and Gabrielle Barnett where they placed fifth with a time of 35.70.

Simply put Bunnell Coaches Ken and Barb Poisson are glad Bazile is “ Now a Bulldog” “ We look forward to watching her compete in the South West Conference.” It is the first Gold medal winner for them in the Patriot Games.

Up next for Bunnell, Monday April 22nd, at Bunnell against the Bethel Wildcats, the Brookfield Bobcats, and the New Milford Greenwave at 4:00.
