Robert Alexander James Sr., age 82, of Stratford, beloved husband of Linda James, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 3rd, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on February 13th, 1944, in Bridgeport and raised in Fairfield, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen Yates James. Bob lived a simple and humble life, defined by devotion to his family and always selflessly putting others in front of himself. A man of calm, patience, and humor, Bob was as quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed one, as he was with a joke, and he brought these virtues along with a strong work ethic to the job at R.E. Michel in Stratford. Additionally, he carried them over to the ball field, where he coached youth sports for many years through Sterling House including baseball, basketball, and soccer.A passionate sports fan, Bob's dedication and loyalty to his Boston Red Sox could not be wavered, enduring many many seasons of highs and lows. During the off season, Bob could be found watching the Boston Celtics, Green Bay Packers, and UConn Huskies. He also enjoyed his weekends tuned into the PGA. Bob also treasured the simple pleasures of life - from reading the newspaper every morning to working in the yard to cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Linda to their home away from home in Hilton Head, South Carolina. In addition to his wife Linda, of over 51 years, he leaves to cherish his memory his two children, Robert James Jr., and Scott James and his wife, Michele and his adored granddaughters Kourtney, Keira, Cooper, and Avery. Friends may call at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street, Stratford on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 4:00 -6:00 PM. All other services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
