Carol Y. Sheridan (1952-2026)
Carol Yvonne Sheridan, 74, of Stratford, CT, passed away peacefully in the care of The Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT, on October 2, 2026, after a six-year battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Campbell, KY in 1952 as an “Army Brat” to John “Scotty” and Bertha Denovan, and grew up in Stratford. Carol attended Bunnell High School and graduated in 1970.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents John and Bertha Denovan and her brother Bobby Shepard, all of Woodlawn, TN, and is survived by her daughters Keri and Kelly Sheridan and her grandsons Matthew and Jayson Diaz of Stratford. We can’t forget her furry grandchildren Bobby and Charley. Those pups always made her smile.

Our mother – where do we begin? Carol was truly ONE OF A KIND. You never knew what was going to come out of her mouth so she always kept us laughing. Her greatest joy was to watch her grandsons play football. She loved telling friends and family about all of their accomplishments and was incredibly proud of them.
Carol devoted her life to raising her two daughters. She went on to work for People’s Securities. After her retirement she worked in the Stratford School System as a paraprofessional. Being around the kids and making a positive impact in their life brought her happiness.

Carol loved her nieces and nephews like they were her own children. She spent many years on the Hilltop with her extended family the Pulkkinens. Carol cherished her lifelong friendship of almost 70 years with Debbie Englehard of CA, no matter how far away they were they always picked up where they left off, laughing always. Our mom will be missed. Have a beer in her memory!
A celebration of Carol’s life is scheduled for Sunday, October 18th from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Café Melba, located at 232 Melba St. Milford, CT.
