Collaborative Lesson Takes Off at St. James!

Today the 2nd and 7th Grades teamed up to learn about aerodynamics through a plane-making and flying activity. The groups designed and created their aircraft, weighted them, and launched them from the second floor to see which designs worked best!

Some students from Mrs. Mitchell's 2nd Grade had this to say:

"I liked it because it was fun to make something and also fun to make them fly!" -Filip Z.

"I liked making the second plane out of cardboard, it was a lot of fun!" -Lillian S.

"If the things on their tails are straight, they fly better." -Cooper N.

"Making them was fun, especially tracing the plates, making my helicopter and finding where it landed." -Michael L.

And from Miss Berardi's 2nd Grade-

"The plane goes what direction the tail is turned in" -Sasha

"The wind effects the direction of the planes" -Brady

"If you put a penny in the front of the plane it makes it go straight instead of all over the place" -Shyanne

"I want to do it again because it was very cool!" -Malaya

"If something heavy goes on the front it doesn't go all over the place." -Stephan

"I want to go back up and learn more about planes" Justin R

"I had a lot of fun because my partner and I worked well together." -Jehyzell
