Construction Worker Remains In ICU After 50-Foot Fall In Stratford
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for the woman, who was seriously injured after falling through a hole in a bridge onto a barge.
STRATFORD, CT — The construction worker who fell 50 feet through a hole in the Devon Bridge in Stratford last week remains in intensive care with serious injuries, friends said in an update.
Sandra Rocabado, 55, landed about 50 feet below onto a construction barge after the fall. Emergency crews responded to the scene just before 8 a.m. on Jan. 31.
Crews used a “rope rescue system” to extricate her from the barge and took her to Bridgeport Hospital, officials said at the time.

Rocabado remains in intensive care with damaged organs, broken bones and is in need of several surgeries, according to Elvy Eberhardt.
Eberhardt has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the family as it goes “through difficult times.”
