Family Bonds Strong at Stratford Shotokan

The local karate studio is run by a father and his son.

A father-son duo's business is all about carrying on tradition - the Shotokan Karate-Do kind.

Samuel Diaz Jr. and Samuel Diaz III own and operate the Stratford Shotokan Karate-Do. The two were among the many businesses that had a booth set up at the recent .

The business moved to a brand new, state-of-the-art studio on South Avenue in October, 2010.

According to the company's website, during the summer of 2007, the Diaz father and son team traveled to California to participate in the Nisei Week International Competition. The Diaz team represented the East Coast and placed third out of 15 international teams.

Samuel Diaz III also participated in the individual competition, capturing the silver medal and recieveing the honor of being the youngest participant to ever fight in the history of the tournament, the website states.
