STRATFORD, CT — Filming for a new Disney movie will take place at Bunnell High School next week, according to officials.
Walt Disney Studios chose Stratford as a location to film scenes for its new movie “Chang Can Dunk,” which is described as a sports drama and a classic coming of age underdog story.
Shooting for the film began Thursday at Wigwam Park in Stratford, according to a news announcement from Mayor Laura Hoydick.

Bunnell High School will be used as a “rival” school in the film. The students of Bunnell will be used in many of the scenes that Disney will shoot, according to Hoydick. The Bunnell-Stratford Marching Band will also be featured in the film.
“We are very happy with how collaborative Disney has been in working with the Town and Board of Education,” the news announcement reads. “The final product of the film is something our town will be proud to have been a part of. Many students will be excited to part of the movie, and we are thrilled to further promote Stratford. Unfortunately, we are aware that this will come with an inconvenience/disruption in your normal day-to-day business. There will also be an impact on one particular night while they shoot various scenes. Please expect to have more people in the neighborhood and perhaps noise associated with filming.”
