Fire Chief Retiring From Stratford Fire Department

STRATFORD, CT — Fire Chief Jermaine Atkinson is retiring Friday after serving 25 years with the Stratford Fire Department, according to the Connecticut Post.

Atkinson was named Stratford’s fire chief in June 2022 by former Mayor Laura R. Hoydick. In addition to his career as a firefighter, Atkinson served the department as deputy chief, deputy emergency management director, training captain, and safety officer.

The Post reports Atkinson is awaiting final approval to become Hamden’s assistant fire chief.

Deputy Fire Chief Eric Heath will lead the Stratford Fire Department until a permanent replacement is hired, according to the Post.
