First-Ever Stratford Day Hosted At State Capitol

STRATFORD, CT — State Representative Joe Gresko (D–Stratford) and the Stratford legislative delegation successfully hosted the first-ever Stratford Day on Wednesday at the State Capitol. The event highlighted local businesses and organizations that are the pride of Stratford.
The delegation, including Senator Kevin Kelly (R-Monroe, Seymour, Shelton, Stratford), Representative Joe Gresko (D-Stratford), Representative Ben McGorty (R-Shelton, Stratford, Trumbull), Senator Herron Gaston (D-Bridgeport, Stratford), and Representative Laura Dancho (R-Stratford), extended a warm welcome to all attendees, celebrating the town’s community spirit and innovative achievements.

“This event showcased the best of what our town has to offer, from its thriving local businesses and organizations to its beautiful natural landmarks,” Gresko said. “It was an honor to work alongside my esteemed colleagues from both sides of the aisle to highlight the community spirit and achievements of our town. I look forward to continuing to support and promote the growth and success of Stratford and its residents.”
“Today is a proud day for Stratford,” Kelly said. “As someone who grew up in Stratford and who lives, works and plans to retire here, I am so pleased to share the many blessings of our community at the State Capitol. From our beautiful environment, our parks and recreation to food and history, Stratford has much to appreciate. I thank my colleagues in the legislature for helping to arrange this celebration and thank all who participated to show the rest of the state all that Stratford has to offer Connecticut families.”

“Stratford is a beautiful and thriving community, which I feel honored to represent in the state Senate” Gaston said. “It’s always great to see hometown institutions like Sikorsky and Copps Island Oysters celebrated in the halls of our state Capitol during Stratford Day.”
“As a lifelong Stratford resident, I am honored to host and showcase businesses, local organizations, and town officials at the state Capitol,” Dancho said. “Stratford plays a unique role in Connecticut, both as a historical hotspot and as home to great food, shops, and a beautiful shoreline. I love my town and I want to thank all of the groups who proudly represented us today and brought with them some of the things that make us the best town in the state,” said Rep. Dancho.
The day was marked by displays from Sikorsky Aircraft, Two Roads Brewery, Gaetano’s Deli, Copps Island Oysters, and other prominent local groups. The Great Meadow Salt Marsh, Roosevelt Forest, while the Raybestos Brakettes Women’s Fast Pitch Softball champions were honored for their accomplishments.
Stratford Day served as a testament to the town’s commitment to fostering a strong sense of community and supporting local businesses. It offered a platform for state leaders and residents to forge meaningful connections with the pillars of the Stratford economy.
