Former Stratford Resident Pursuing Insanity Defense in Murder and Shooting Trial
Scott Gellatly, 47, is accused of killing his estranged wife and shooting his mother-in-law almost a year ago in Oxford.

It appears the attorneys representing Scott Gellatly, 47, of Oxford, who is accused of killing his estranged wife and shooting his mother-in-law, appears to be pursuing an insanity defense, reports the Connecticut Post.
Gellatly, a former Stratford resident, appeared briefly in Superior Court, Milford on Tuesday. The one-year anniversary of the murder and shooting is soon coming up. His case was continued until May 12.
He remains under suicide watch at a Newtown prison, the Post reports.

According to the Hartford Courant, Gellatly, allegedly broke into the Oxford home of his wife’s parents, Douglas and Merry Jackson, on the morning of May 7 where he fatally shot his wife Lori Gellatly and seriously injured his mother-in-law, Merry Jackson.
Gellatly is facing several counts including murder, attempted murder, first-degree assault, home invasion, first-degree burglary and first-degree robbery. He is being imprisoned in lieu of a $2 million bond.
