Hockey Game To Benefit Family Of Fallen Stratford Firefighter
Members of the Stratford Fire Department will lace up the skates in honor of Jason Carrafiello, who died Dec. 26 at the age of 38.

STRATFORD, CT — Members of the Stratford Fire Department will lace up the skates for a benefit ice hockey game in honor of their fallen brother, Jason Carrafiello, who died Dec. 26 at the age of 38.
Stratford will play the Westport Fire Department in the benefit game at 1 p.m. on April 1 at The Rinks at Shelton Sports Center of Connecticut, 784 River Road in Shelton.
A GoFundme page has been launched to assist with raising funds for Carrafiello’s family. Firefighter Mike Apatow created the “FF Jason Carrafiello Benefit Hockey” account on Feb. 20 and it has raised $880 of a $25,000 goal as of Monday.

Apatow wrote on the page that he was working the day after Christmas when the “tones went off as they often do, for a 38 year old male, non responsive.”
“Once we checked the map, we realized that it was the home of our brother firefighter Jason Carrafiello,” Apatow wrote in the GoFundMe post. “We did everything we could, but with deep regret we lost him.

“Jason Carrafiello was an amazing person who deeply loved his family, the fire department and being a basketball coach. Losing him at such a young age is a huge loss to all of us and the community at large.”
