Branford’s ‘Hot Spot’ of Illegal Activity
A “hot spot” of illegal activity lived up to its name on Oct. 4 when Branford police arrested a man who was allegedly in possession of 30 bags of crack cocaine.
Police said the New Haven man was arrested following a routine traffic stop in the parking lot of the Branford Motel. Cops also confiscated a couple cell phones and some cash.

North Branford’s K9 Catches Suspect in Woods
A K9 cop led officers to an allegedly drunk man who police say ditched his car after crashing into a utility pole just after midnight on Oct. 1.

The 39-year-old suspect was hiding in the woods behind his house, North Branford Police said. Smoke was coming from the heavily damaged car near the street. The man was taken into custody and charged with DUI, among other things.
Hamden Cops Bust Up Gridiron Brawl
It was 9 p.m. and Hamden High was just about to kick off a football game when police were called to break up a fight of about 60 people in the stands.
The brawlers took off when police arrived, but one 18-year-old was arrested. And a 17-year-old was busted a few minutes later when another fight broke out up the street at Hamden Plaza, police said.
Rollover Victim Drives Away
A 65-year-old Stamford man, driving on a Norwalk street last Sunday must have presented quite a sight to the officer who stopped him. The top part of the vehicle was so bent and damaged that police believe it had been part of a rollover accident, and that
Looking down, one could see sparks and smoke coming from the tire rims as the vehicle moved along the street—the tires themselves had been blown off.
A Norwalk police officer stopped the car shortly after state police sent out a bulletin for a vehicle that fit the description of this one. After the vehicle was stopped, the man had to be extracted from the car by authorities, because the doors were too bent to open. He was taken to Norwalk Hospital, where he was treated.
Awake for Two Days
A 32-year-old Fairfield man on Sept. 27. The driver, police said, told officers he might have fallen asleep, as he'd been awake for two days. He was charged with driving under the influence, possession of narcotics and reckless driving.
Lying to UI Leads to Arrest
Police say a 42-year-old Bridgeport man to have his wife and children’s power shutoff on Sept. 30. Police discovered this and arrested the man, Erik Spore, after pulling him over for driving without insurance.
