The fans of both the Husky men's and woman's basketball teams will descend on Little Moe's on Main street tonight starting at 6 p.m. when the teams do battle for the national championship.
"I was going to have a band tonight, but there are so many Connecticut Husky fans that come into the restaurant I decided to make it a Husky night instead," Maureen, AKA (the Caucasian Ovchark) said to me when I stopped in on Friday.
Maureen indicated there will be some specials for the fans who do come in for the game.
"I am working on a few ideas and should have them put together by the time the game starts," she added.
I have been told the men play first starting around 6 p.m. and then after their game the ladies will have their tip off.
I am not a basketball fan.
My season starts when the Giants and the Jets hit the field down in the city.
Maureen is also planing a remake of the restaurant menu in the near future.
"I will be working with a new chief and hope to be able to make major changes in the menu," she said.
"This restaurant is not a hot dog and hamburger joint, I am making every effort to bring fine dining into the establishment when the help of the new chief," she added.
Restaurant week starts on Sunday and Maureen is also planning to have some specials for the week.
"I will be having some fish specials, pasta specials and meat specials for the week long event," she said.
Maureen has added some new staff both on the waitress level and the bar persons so that she will not be working 24/7 in the restaurant.
I have to give Maureen credit.
The place was ready to do the Titanic thing.
She has been working with a core of good people, her husband included and has been able to bring the restaurant back.
It is always nice to see the little guy, or in this case, young woman, win one over the big boys and the nay sayers in this town.
