IDs Released in Police Officer-Involved Shooting in Stratford: UPDATE
The names of the man who shot at police and the two officers who returned fire was released Thursday.

STRATFORD, CT — New details have been released in an officer-involved shooting in the Lordship section of town early Wednesday.
The names of the man who allegedly fired at least one gunshot at responding police officers and the two police officers who shot the suspect were released Thursday afternoon.
State Police say Timothy P. Johnson, 40, of Fernwood Drive in Stratford, shot at police officers and the two officers that returned fire are Brian McCarthy, 52, a 26-year police veteran, and Louis Arbelo, 25, who has been on the job for two years.

Both officers are on paid administrative leave while State Police investigate, which is standard protocol. State Police say both McCarthy and Arbelo discharged at least one round each from their department-issued firearm with at least one round striking the male suspect.
Johnson suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the 4:45 a.m. Wednesday incident. Stratford police responded to the Lordship section by Russian Beach in Stratford for reports of man with a gun, police have said.

At that time, police officers ordered the man to drop the gun but Stratford Police say he continued toward toward the officers and fired at least one gunshot at them. Both McCarthy and Arbelo shot back and struck Johnson, authorities have said.
Johnson was taken to Bridgeport Hospital where he is in stable condition.
