Main Street in the Lordship Section to Reopen

The road had been closed since the end of 2014. There will still be some issues for now.

Stratford’s legislative delegation and Mayor John Harkins will join the Department of Transportation (DOT) to re-open Main Street in the Lordship section of Stratford to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The scheduled re-opening is Friday afternoon, May 22nd and will last for approximately two months into late July.

During this time:

· Minor utility work will continue
· Construction of the new roadway will continue
· Daily lane closures between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. are possible to complete water/sewer tie-in work

Motorists are reminded to maintain a safe speed driving through the area. The DOT has had the road closed since the end of 2014 in order to remove hazardous materials associated with the former Raymark facility and to reconfigure Main Street to accommodate the runway safety improvements at Sikorsky Memorial Airport.
