Man Threatened To Stab Security In Botched Chainsaw Theft: Police

A West Haven man was arrested on a warrant for charges in the incident at the Stratford Home Depot.

STRATFORD, CT — A man accused of threatening to stab a security officer while trying to steal two chainsaws was recently arrested, according to police. The shoplifting incident occurred in December 2018 at the Stratford Home Depot. Leroy McDaniel was arrested June 12 on a warrant for charges related to the attempted theft, Capt. Frank Eannotti stated in an email.

McDaniel, 61, of West Haven, is accused of threatening to stab store security and stealing two chainsaws valued at about $2,000, according to Eannotti, who added the chainsaws were recovered when McDaniel fled the store at 350 Barnum Ave. Cutoff. Leroy is charged with larceny and threatening.
