Medical Examiner Confirms Identity of Human Remains Found in Stratford

The 'person of interest' in the disappearance of a Bridgeport woman was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday night.

The state’s medical examiner’s office has confirmed that the human remains found near an industrial area of Stratford earlier this week were those of missing Bridgeport resident Minnie Lincoln, 57, and her cause of death has been ruled a homicide, according to NBC Connecticut.

A person of interest in her disappearance, Marcus Jackson, 36, of Stratford, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday evening, hours after Lincoln’s remains were found in Stratford.

Bridgeport and Stratford Police, with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police and the FBI, had been investigating Lincoln’s disappearance since she was reported missing on March 31.

On Monday evening, police returned to the home of Jackson, who was the last person Lincoln was seen with on March 27, and as police knocked on his door, they heard a gunshot. Jackson was found dead inside the house from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“This is a horrible episode and our thoughts go out to the communities in Bridgeport and Stratford,” Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said in a statement. “Police have worked tirelessly trying to find and bring Minnie home. But, there is information we do not yet know. Detectives are continuing to search for those answers.”

Bridgeport Police Chief Joseph Gaudett Jr. said Bridgeport and Stratford police seamlessly worked together in the investigation with the assistance of CSP and the FBI.

Lincoln, of Bridgeport, was last seen at 11:12 p.m. after she left the Old Timers Club at 1296 Stratford Ave. She was escorted out by Jackson, the owner of the building. They were last seen walking together to Jackson’s truck, a Ford F150 pickup and they were last seen traveling south on Wilmot Avenue, according to Bridgeport police spokesperson Bill Kaempffer.

Detectives investigating the disappearance spoke with Jackson and other witnesses and reviewed hours of security footage from the area.

The results of the investigation led police to the Stratford site.
