New Chief Of Staff Appointed In Stratford Mayor’s Office

Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick has appointed a new Chief of Staff.

STRATFORD, CT — (From Town of Stratford): Mayor Laura Hoydick has named public relations and marketing agency executive Sarah Matthews as her new Chief of Staff.

Matthews settled into her new role this month after former Chief of Staff, Sarah Clark, resigned in late January to become Director of Education and Communication at the Connecticut Office of State Ethics.

Matthews has an extensive background in public relations, project management, and marketing. Most recently, Matthews worked as a communications consultant, providing marketing and PR strategy for a number of clients after leaving her role as Client Services Director at a San Francisco-based marketing agency.

Born and raised in Fairfield, her family was very active in town and state government, leading her to have a lifelong passion for politics and local issues. She graduated from Fairfield University with a B.A. in Communication and a minor in Art History.

Matthews lives in Fairfield with her husband Andrew, director of sales for a data technology company, her three children, and two dogs. Matthews is on the Board of Directors for Near & Far Aid Association, Inc. while her husband is Chair of the Fairfield Public Library Board of Trustees.

Hoydick believes Ms. Matthews will be a welcome addition to the Town of Stratford and her office.

“Sarah brings fresh eyes and a new perspective on Town cross-functional communication, as well as working with our residents and our Town departments to ensure our community continues to thrive,” Hoydick said.
