New Deputy Police Chief Named In Stratford

Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick recently announced the promotion.

STRATFORD, CT — Stratford Police Detective Captain Paul DosSantos has been promoted to the post of Deputy Chief of Police, Mayor Laura R. Hoydick announced Friday.

DosSantos, a 26-year veteran of the Stratford Police Department, assumed the post effective July 1, and is planned to succeed current Deputy Police Chief John Popik who is expected to retire later this year, according to Hoydick.

“Paul DosSantos has a distinguished career here in the Stratford Police Department, and I am pleased to promote him to this new role, supporting Chief Joseph McNeil in the leadership of a professional department of excellent officers that have become national models for community-engaged policing,” Hoydick said in a news release.

Stratford Police Chief Joseph McNeil said DosSantos has been an “outstanding Detective Captain, and I am pleased to have him join the leadership of this Department protecting and serving the residents of Stratford.”

Before assuming the role of Detective Captain, DosSantos served as a Lieutenant in the Patrol Division, Detective Division, Traffic Division, and Training Division. He holds an M.S. in Justice and Law Administration from Western Connecticut State University and is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police.

“I would like to thank Mayor Hoydick and Chief McNeil for the opportunity to continue to serve the citizens of Stratford as their Deputy Chief of Police,” DosSantos said.
