Obituary: Arthur E. Miller, 87, of Stratford

Arthur E. Miller, 87, of Stratford, beloved husband of 62 years of Martha (Gault) Miller, died at his home on Monday, February 19, 2018.Mr. Miller was born in East Haven to the late Arthur W. and Margaret Mary Miller. He attended Bowling Green State University and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean Conflict.

Upon completion of his military service, Mr. Miller continued his education at the University of Bridgeport where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Mr. Miller worked as an accountant at Sikorsky Aircraft for 14 years and then furthered his career in accounting by working in the public housing sector in many local communities. He retired as Finance Director for Stratford Housing Authority.

Mr. Miller had a very strong work ethic and had done income tax preparation in addition to his full-time job for many years. A devout member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Mr. Miller served the parish in many capacities as a Eucharistic minister, usher and a member of the parish council. He had been a member of the Baldwin Center where he enjoyed playing cards, bocce and socializing. Mr. Miller was an avid sports fan, whether supporting his favorite teams, the NY Giants, NY Yankees and UCONN teams; or participating as a coach for little league.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three loving sons, David Miller of Bridgeport, Jeffrey Miller and his wife, Cheryl, of Stratford and Daniel Miller of Shelton; one devoted daughter, Mary Sotolongo of Stratford; nine cherished grandchildren, Trisha Leigh and her husband, Joseph Farone, Sean Robert Miller, Jeffrey Alan Miller, Jr., Breanna Leigh Miller, Brendan Arthur Miller, Elise Letitia Sotolongo, Seth Samuel Sotolongo, Shane Lucas Sotolongo and Sidney Pastor Sotolongo; one brother, Alan Miller and his wife, Jeanne, of FL; two sisters, Margaret Crisci of North Haven and Rosemary and Robert Hansen of West Haven; and several nieces and nephews.Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10:30 am DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private.
