Obituary: Francis ‘Frank’ M. Dillon Jr., 76, Of Stratford

Frank was a retired computer programmer for Gen Re Corp. He loved all sports, played semi-pro baseball and was scouted by the NY Mets.

STRATFORD, CT — (From Adzima Funeral Home): Francis “Frank” M. Dillon Jr., 76, of Stratford, beloved husband of Minerva “Mini” Rivera Dillon, passed away on August 22, 2023, in Bridgeport Hospital. Frank was born in New York City on December 3, 1946, to the late Frank and Rita (Clarke) Dillon Sr and had been a longtime area resident.

Frank graduated from James Monroe High School in 1964. Five years later, he met his soulmate on the Lexington Avenue train. Six weeks later, Mini and Frank were married on August 17, 1969.

Frank was a retired computer programmer for Gen Re Corp. He loved all sports as he played baseball at James Monroe, little league, Continental Can Co & GenRe Insurance, semi pro in the Bronx, and scouted by the NY Mets. He enjoyed cheering on the New York Yankees, Knicks and Giants.

Frank was adored by his family and loved being a grandfather. Named “Pipa” by his first grandchild, Isabella, along with many nicknames such as “Grandpa” and “Baldy” by his wife.

Frank also enjoyed eating his wife’s Spanish food, reading the sports page in the New York Post, watching the same movies over and over, dancing to Latin music, and spending time with his family. Frank is especially loved for his super infectious laugh and extreme generosity.

Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, include his devoted children, Alexandra Gaydos and her husband Joseph of Stratford, Frank M. Dillon III of Texas, and Andrew Dillon and his wife Naomi of Stratford, 5 cherished grandchildren, Isabella, Mason, Samaya, Jennifer, and Lariah, sisters, Patricia Busutil, Rita Shand, Loretta Albanese, and Lorraine Murlo and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was pre-deceased by his daughter, Minette.
