Obituary: Gary T. Nash, 80, Of Stratford
Gary, who served in the Army National Guard, was a friendly, kind and compassionate person who always went out of his way to help others.

STRATFORD, CT — (From Adzima Funeral Home): Gary T. Nash, 80, of Stratford, beloved husband and father, passed away July 19 2023 at Bridgeport Hospital. Gary was born December 28, 1942 in Bridgeport Ct to the late Lt. Col. Thomas H. Nash and Justine (Nadeau) Nash.
From there he embarked on a 20-year journey living all over the United States wherever his father was stationed including Hawaii, Texas and many other states before graduating from Concord High School in New Hampshire.
Upon his return to Connecticut, he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served for many years. He became a mechanic for Frascatore Cadillac Oldsmobile and Jim Barry Cadillac Oldsmobile before working for Avco Lycoming building tank engines until the plant closed in the early 1990s. He then went to work with his son at Nash Construction as a truck driver for nearly 20 years until his retirement.

He enjoyed skiing, was an avid fisherman, loved building cars and excelled at target shooting. He was a member of the NRA, Bridgeport Rifle Club, and Ansonia Rod and Gun Club.
Those who knew Gary know he was a friendly, kind and compassionate person who always went out of his way to help others. He was a huge animal lover and had a huge heart. His greatest love was for his family, he was a dedicated husband and father. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathleen (Powe) Nash, his son Gary S. Nash and wife Sherry Nash, daughter Carolyn Gerrity, four grandchildren Steve McKay (Wife Jenna), Daniel Nash, Ryan and Matthew Gerrity, one great grandchild William McKay and many other beloved family members including Richard N. and Carol Roberts, Jeff and Joan Chipokas, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and their families.
Friends may greet the family on Monday, July 24 from 5-8 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 25 at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford. Interment will be in Union Cemetery Stratford.
