Obituary: Jean Harriett Lanz, 96, Of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT — (From Dennis & D'Arcy Funeral Home): Jean Harriett Lanz passed at home on 12/27/23 at the age of 96.

Jean was born to John and Hedwig Kesses on 2/9/1927 in New Haven CT.

She and her husband Kerwin D. Lanz, who passed in 2015 were lifelong residents of Stratford after moving from North Haven with their 3 young children. Jean recently moved to Manchester to live with her son.

Jean and Kerwin were true partners in life. Serving together at the Stratford United Methodist Church for decades as ushers and supporting the Sunday school. Raising their children to know the Lord was central to her philosophy as a mother.

Jean was a very social person. Hosting many dinner parties for a large circle of friends. She was involved in her community volunteering with the Welcome Wagon, greeting new residents to the Stratford area. She always looked at the positive side of life right up to her passing.

She will be missed and loved eternally by her 2 sons, daughter, daughter-in-law, 4 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Each of us striving to honor her by living a life of strength, integrity and faith as she demonstrated to us.
