Obituary: John Oliver 'Sean' McKay, 76, Of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT — (From Spear-Miller Funeral Home): John Oliver “Sean” McKay, 76, of Stratford, former longtime resident of Westport, passed away on Friday, July 15 2022 with his family by his side.

Sean is the loving and devoted husband of Barbara Ann DeMattio McKay for 54 years. Sean was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on July 13, 1946 to the late John Joseph and Ellen Smee McKay.

Sean and his family came to the United States when he was 2.5 years old and proudly became a U.S. citizen at the age of 12. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam.

Sean was a production manager with Comatel USA for many years prior to their relocation. He then worked for the Wilton Board of Education. During his retirement, he took up Golf, Wine making, boating with his family. His greatest joy was being with his family and close friends.

In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his son, Michael John McKay and his wife Sharon, his grandsons; Colin Sean McKay and Dillon Michael McKay all of Stratford. He is the brother of Anthony McKay of Cape Coral, FL. He is also survived by many cousins and friends, especially his winemaking and golf buddies. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Diarmuid McKay.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
