Obituary: John A. Piccirillo, 85, of Stratford

John A. Piccirillo, 85, of Stratford, beloved husband of Shirley Gadus Piccirillo, passed away on January 4, 2019 at home with his beloved wife by his side. John was born in Bridgeport on June 16, 1933 to the late James and Theresa (Kocsis) Piccirillo and has been a lifelong area resident.

He was a proud U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War. John met the love of his life December 26, 1954, while attending a dance at the White Eagle Club and were united in marriage by June 1, 1957. John was retired from the Town of Stratford, Department of Public Works.

Besides dancing and traveling he enjoyed watching Western movies, especially Shane. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Survivors in addition to his wife of 61 years, include his devoted sons, John Piccirillo and his wife Jennifer of Stratford, Robert Piccirillo and his wife Phyllis of Massachusetts, and Michael (Drew) Piccirillo and his wife Glenda of Norwalk, 3 cherished grandchildren, Rebecca Piccirillo Griffith and her husband Jason, Stephanie Lupica, and Nicholas Piccirillo, a brother, Joseph Piccirillo and his wife Phyllis of Trumbull, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was pre-deceased by his siblings, Anthony, Michael, Andrew, Carmella, and James.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 10th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in St. Mark’s Church Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will be in Union Cemetery Stratford. Friends may greet his family on Wednesday January 9th from 4- 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in memory of John to the Kennedy Center 2440 Reservoir Ave Trumbull, CT 06611.
