Obituary: Joselito Calderon, 54; Stratford Business Owner
Joselito proudly owned Chen Huu Academy in Stratford for many years. He was a loving father and husband and a dedicated sensei.

STRATFORD, CT — Joselito Calderon, 54, of Bridgeport, died suddenly on July 11, 2021. He was the husband of Christina Marie Belo Calderon.
Joselito was born in Ecuador to Miguel Ángel Calderon and Elda Mari Viteri. He served in Ecuador’s military and as a bodyguard to the Ecuadorian president. He was a martial artist, and he started his first martial arts school at 16 in Ecuador.
Joselito proudly owned Chen Huu Academy in Stratford for many years, where he trained children, police officers, and adults alike in the art of Taekwondo and self-defense. Sensei Joselito was a master in Taekwondo and lived and trained in Korea for six years, where he was honored with a martial arts training school that bears his name.
Joselito was loved by everybody and had an incredible sense of humor. He was a loving father and husband and a dedicated sensei who loved to give back to the community.
Joselito is survived by his wife, Christina, and her son, Ryo; his parents, Miguel and Elda; his beloved daughters, Cynthia Calderon and Carolay Calderon (Larnell); his father and mother-in-law, Perry and Maria Lafierriere; and many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins in Ecuador.
Friends may call on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with the funeral expenses.
