Obituary: Joseph J. Bucko Sr., 89; Former Stratford Resident

Joe, a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, was retired from Robert Shaw Control where he had been employed for more than 40 years.

Joseph J. Bucko, Sr. 89, of Milford, died on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Bridgeport Hospital. He was husband of the late Barbara (Frimpter) Bucko.

Mr. Bucko was born in Bridgeport to the late Stephen and Helen (Vanek) Bucko. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Joe was retired from Robert Shaw Control, where he had been employed for over 40 years. He had been a resident of Fairfield and Stratford for many years prior to moving to Milford.

Joe enjoyed traveling and an occasional visit to the casinos.

He had been a parishioner of St. James Church in Stratford. Joe was devoted to his family and was happiest when they were all together.

Survivors include two beloved children, Joseph Bucko, Jr. and his wife, Kim, of Milford and Robin Bucci of Bridgeport; five loving grandchildren, Ryan Bucko, Madison Bucko, Richard Bucci (Gloria), Michael Bucci and Timothy Bucci; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Gianna; brother-in-law, Alan Guard of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Minnie. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Irene Guard; brother, John Bucko; son-in-law, Danny Bucci; and longtime companion, Winnie Serfilippo.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 11 am at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairifield. Friends may call on Friday from 9 am to 11 am.
