Obituary: Josephine (Joan) Zahlman, 84, Of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT — (From Magner Funeral Home): Josephine (Joan) Zahlman, 84, loving wife of Gaylord (Whitey) Zahlman of Stratford, died on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Apple Rehab in Shelton. Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Rocco and Josephine (Villano) LaSasso, she was also predeceased by her sister, Carmen Silva-DiElsi.

Joan was proud of being the first female director at Burndy Corp. She loved beautiful things; fashion, flowers, children and spending time with her family. She was a wonderful caring “Mom” to everyone.

In addition to her husband Whitey, she is survived by her sister Frances Nolan, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and a great-grand niece and nephew.

Her family will receive friends on Wed., June 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave, Norwalk. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Ave, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery.
