Obituary: Maria Therese Savko, 64; Formerly Of Stratford

MILFORD, CT — (From Adzima Funeral Home): Maria Therese Savko, 64, of Milford, passed away unexpectedly from a blood clot in her lung on March 26, 2023, at Bridgeport Hospital with her family by her side.

Maria was born in New Haven on August 18, 1958, the beloved daughter of the late Michael J. and Margaret Gonzalez Savko and lifelong resident of the area.

She graduated from Stratford High School, Class of 1976 and was a retired Registered Nurse for the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections.

Maria was a dedicated and highly skilled nurse who loved what she did. Age 15 saw the beginning of her battle with anxiety and panic disorder. She fought valiantly and relentlessly and, for much of her life, she prevailed against it. She worked her career and traveled the world. She was tough! But even the tough get tired. These last few years she faced some difficult challenges and fought the best she could. Now, she is at peace but a piece of us has gone with her.

Survivors include her devoted sisters, Pamela Carroll of Milford and Margaret Paquette of Stratford, her nephew, Ryan Carroll, and many cherished cousins, colleagues, and friends.

Friends may visit on Thursday, March 30 from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.

All other services will be private.
