STRATFORD, CT — (From Pistey Funeral Home): Morgan E. Kellogg of Stratford, beloved husband of Mary Meena Kellogg, passed peacefully on October 17, 2023, at age 91. He was the son of the late H. Morgan and Gladys Kellogg.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army and loved to share stories of being stationed in France.

Morgan had an incredible work ethic. He worked for almost 50 years as a flooring contractor, building and running his own business as a sole proprietor. Despite never advertising, his business was very successful due to his remarkable skill, relentless attention to detail, perfectionism, and pride in his work. His business thrived solely on “word of mouth.”

Morgan had a love of finding, buying, and selling interesting objects. For many years he went to flea markets and his beloved Stratford Antiques Center, where he enjoyed lots of conversation and haggling over prices. He loved a good deal.

Morgan cherished the Town of Stratford, where lived nearly his entire life. He grew up close to Paradise Green and later moved with his family next to Longbrook Pond, where he valued almost nightly walks around the pond. He later moved to the Putney section of town and loved walking throughout Boothe Memorial Park.

In his retirement, Morgan enjoyed many evenings with friends at the Lordship seawall and walking the Shakespeare Theatre grounds. He took hundreds of pictures of Stratford to document his appreciation of the history and beauty he found everywhere.

He loved nature and would frequently spend time simply admiring trees, flowers, and landscapes. In his youth, he raised chickens and sold eggs throughout his neighborhood, which started a fondness for the birds that never diminished.

Morgan was predeceased by his brothers, Elmer and Arnold Kellogg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Ken and his wife, Mary, of Monroe, his two grandchildren Sam and Abby, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford. There will be a brief service at 10:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Putney Cemetery, Stratford.
