Obituary: Nelson Van Brown, 59, Of Stratford
He was a longtime member of Black Rock Church, serving on the greeting team, and also enjoyed mountain biking, pool and going to car shows.

STRATFORD, CT — (From Pistey Funeral Home): A life lived fully in faith, love and family. Nelson Van Brown, 59, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023 with his wife Diane by his side.
Born on July 30, 1964, Nelson spent most of his life in Bridgeport, graduating from Central High School. He was employed for 21 years doing a job he loved at 3030 Park (now The Watermark at 3030 Park).
Nelson was a longtime member of Black Rock Church serving on the greeting team. He also enjoyed mountain biking, pool and going to car shows prior to his illness.

Nelson is survived by his wife and best friend Diane, his mother Cora Brown, sisters Frankie Cintron (Ray) of Brooklyn, NY and Yuvanda Brown Yeo (Yacouba) of Hamden, CT and brother Marshall Sims of Zephyrhills, FL. Nieces and nephew, Ebony Grace (Richard), Alida Chambers (Michael), Sheniqua Little (Ella) and Darnell Brown (Christina). In addition, sister in law Judy Guerra and niece Jessica Guerra who helped with his care the past few years.
Nelson was predeceased by his father Van Brown.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford. A celebration of Nelson’s life will take place at 11 a.m. on November 4, 2023 at Black Rock Church, 3685 Black Rock Tpke, Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nelson’s memory can be made to the Yale Stroke Center. Please mail to Yale New Haven Hospital Development, PO Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508 and note in the memo Nelson Brown/YNHH Stroke Center Fund.
