Obituary: Raymond E. Severance, 93, of Stratford

Ray lived in Stratford all of his life and was an active member on boards and committees at the First Congregational Church of Stratford.

Raymond Edward Severance, 93, of Stratford, beloved husband of Charlotte Bauer Severance died peacefully on January 29, 2018 at his home. Ray lived in Stratford all of his life and was an active member on boards and committees at the First Congregational Church of Stratford. He served as a clerk for the Stratford Ecclesiastical Society for many years and treasurer of the Historical Burying Ground Board. Ray also served many years on the Stratford Red Cross Board of Directors and was a longtime volunteer for Friends of Booth Park.

He was devoted to his family, God, and to his church. He is survived by his son William and wife Frances and four daughters; Susan Wilson and husband Bill, Mary McNamara and husband Patrick, Carol Wilcoxson, all of Stratford and Nancy Dagenhart of Windsor. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held on Feb. 4. The burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Stratford Memorial Fund
