Obituary: Robert Umberto Wiencko, 77, Of Stratford

STRATFORD, CT — (From Adzima Funeral Home): Robert Umberto Wiencko, 77, of Stratford, the beloved husband of 50 years to Virginia Susan Vangele Wiencko, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, October 6, 2023 in St. Vincent Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Born In Bridgeport on July 14, 1946 to the late Anthony and Edvige (Bettini) Wiencko, Bob has been a lifetime Stratford resident.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Working Leader of the underground utilities’ crews for United Illuminating.

Survivors in addition to his beloved wife Sue, include his devoted son, Thomas of Stratford, a brother Anthony Wiencko and his wife Carol of Shelton, a brother-in-law Victor Vangele and his wife Barbara of Trumbull, 2 nephews, Anthony Wiencko and his wife Tara and Jeffrey Vangele, a niece Jennifer and her husband David LaPierre.

Friends may greet his family on Tuesday, Oct. 10 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, CT. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 in the funeral home. Interment with Full Military Honors will take place in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford.
