Obituary: Ronald F. Kavanaugh Sr., 91
He was very involved with union activities at SNET, helping people as the union's drug & alcohol counselor & for which many lives were saved

Ronald F. Kavanaugh Sr., 91, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 13, 2018. He was the husband of the late Elinor (Cooke) Kavanaugh and was predeceased by his son Ronald (Kav) Kavanaugh Jr.
Ron was born in Hartford, CT to the late George and Arlene Kavanaugh. He was a World War II US Navy veteran. Mr. Kavanaugh retired from SNET after 39 years of service. He was very involved with union activities at SNET. He helped countless men and women as the union’s drug and alcohol counselor for which many lives were saved. He also served as Vice President of the union for the western division.

Ron was a Eucharist Minister along with his wife Elinor at St. Mark Church in Stratford.
Ron was an avid Giants football and baseball fan; he coached little league and never missed one of his sons’ games, both as children and adults.

Survivors include his beloved son, Patrick J. Kavanaugh and his fiancée Jean M. Fuller of Florida; five grandchildren, Shannon Kavanaugh, Cody Kavanaugh and wife Melissa, Dani Nichols and husband Matt, Matt Kavanaugh and Kasey Kavanaugh; seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Olivia, Skyler, Sadie, Patrick, Brayden and Denton; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, August 19th, 2018 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 20th at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford celebrated by Rev. Birendra Soreng. Interment with military honors at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Daniels Farm Road, Trumbull immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
