Obituary: Scott A. Eckenrod, 50
Scott, a Bunnell graduate, had a quick smile, wonderful sense of humor and deeply loved his family and friends.

Scott Alan Eckenrod, 50, passed away suddenly in his sleep at home on February 2, 2017.Scott was raised in Stratford, and had most recently been residing in, Torrington. Graduating from Bunnell High School in 1983, he was active in the band, playing the tuba.
Scott had a quick smile, wonderful sense of humor and deeply loved his family and friends. An avid jazz fan with a love of food, nature and his beloved pets. A long held dream, Scott was currently pursuing a degree in Earth Science at Northwestern Community College. Scott, an Executive Chef and Consultant, had a career that spanned 20 years in award winning restaurants including Paci, Homestead Inn/La Grange, Miche Mache, Cava Wine Bar, Three Bears Inn and Liana's Trattoria in Connecticut; Gautreaus of New Orleans; Via-Via of NY; and Circa of Philadelphia.

Unfortunately, he was forced to retire early due to a severe foot injury incurred after his many years in his chosen career.
He is survived by and will be dearly remembered forever by his loving mother Emily and step-father John Hajus of Stratford; a brother and dear friend, Eric and wife Barbara and their children Christopher and Victoria of NY; and also loving nieces and nephews Jad of FL, Meghan, Seth, Brianna and Arlan of CT. He will also be missed by his step-sister, Kim Ryder and family of WA and his step-brother, Keith Hajus and family of CT. Scott was adored by two uncles, Michael Eckenrod of WA and Ted Olson of VA; aunt, Martha Daniel of AK; their families and many special cousins. He leaves behind many friends, dear to his heart, from all walks of life. Scott was predeceased by his father, Leroy Eckenrod and his brother, Dean Eckenrod.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Scott on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11 am at First Congregational Church, 2301 Main St., Stratford. Inurnment will be private. The family wishes to thank the Visiting Nurse Association of Torrington, especially Brian and Laurie for their dedicated and compassionate care. Those who so desire, may make contributions in Scott's memory to First Congregational Church of Stratford.
