Obituary: Stanley R. Milas, 87, of Stratford

Stanley, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, retired from the Stratford Fire Department after 32 years of service in 1991.

Stanley R. Milas, 87, of Stratford, beloved husband of Mary Jeannine Marsan Milas, passed away on May 1, 2018 in Bridgeport Hospital. Stanley was born on November 28, 1930 in Webster, Massachusetts to the late Stanislaw and Anna (Kitka) Milas and has been a long time area resident. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War.

Stanley retired from the Stratford Fire Department after 32 years of service in 1991. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 65 years, include his devoted children, Denise Gross and her husband Martin of Stratford, Lesa Milas of Hebron, and Robert Milas and his wife Sherie of Mansfield, Massachusetts, 4 cherished grandchildren, Kathryn Oliwa (Glen), Gregory Gross, Grant and Griffin Milas, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Stanley was pre-deceased by his brother, Bernard Milas, and sister, Rosalie Nelson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. meeting directly in St. Mark Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford. Inurnment with full military honors will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet his family on Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations in Stanley’s memory to either the Connecticut Firefighters Charitable Foundation or Puppies Behind Bars.
