Obituary: Thelma Elizabeth Slauson, 90, Of Stratford

Thelma was a retired crossing guard for the town of Stratford and enjoyed her trips to the dog track and camping with her late husband.

Thelma Elizabeth (Perry) Slauson, 90, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Edward Slauson, Sr. passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Slauson was born January 16, 1928 in Barre Plains, MA., daughter of the late William and Ora (McEwen), and had been a longtime area resident.

Thelma was a retired crossing guard for the town of Stratford and enjoyed her trips to the dog track and camping with her late husband. In her younger days she was an accomplished bowler and a member of several leagues in Norwalk. She was also an avid fan of UCONN Women's Basketball and the NY Mets.

Thelma is survived by his three sons, Ed Slauson Jr., of Stratford, Timothy Slauson and his wife Judi of Ansonia and William Slauson and his wife Suzanne of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Wilbert Perry of North Carolina; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four brothers; William, Clifford, Richard and James Perry

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Vitas Healthcare, and Bridgeport Hospital for their compassionate and professional care of Thelma.

Friends are invited to attend her funeral service officiated by the Reverend Esmail Dezhbod Monday, March 19, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford.

Friends may visit with her family Monday before service time from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
