Opioid Overdose Prevention and Narcan Training Offered for Stratford Families

STRATFORD, CT — An Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone (Narcan) Training for Stratford families with loved ones struggling with an opioid addiction will be held on Monday, Dec. 5 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Room 110 of the Birdseye Municipal Complex, located at 468 Birdseye Street, Stratford.
Information about treatment and family support services will be provided by Town Departments, community organizations and treatment programs. GBAPP (Greater Bridgeport Area Prevention Programs) will provide training on how to identify an overdose and the use of Naloxone (Narcan).

A free Narcan kit will be provided to individuals who complete the training. GBAPP provides Narcan kits at no cost, which is a CT Department of Public Health funded initiative.
“Opioid overdose is now considered a major public health problem,” Stratford Health Director Andrea L. Boissevain said. “Although Narcan won’t solve this epidemic, it does save lives and gives people another change for treatment and recovery.”
