Police ID Stratford Woman Found Dead In Westport Parking Lot

The woman was found in the backseat of a running vehicle Sunday night in the parking lot of the Levitt Pavilion.

WESTPORT, CT — The identity of the 34-year-old Stratford woman, who died in the parking lot of the Levitt Pavilion in Westport on Sunday, has been identified.

Joanna Smith was found lying down and unresponsive in the backseat of a running vehicle at about 8:40 p.m., and after lifesaving efforts did not revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident was reported by Westport police as an "untimely death," and additional details, such as the type of vehicle and whether it was hers, were not disclosed.

"As stated earlier, the matter remains under investigation, but no foul play is suspected," said Westport Police Lt. Dave Wolf in a statement.

Smith's body was transported to the Connecticut Medical Examiner's office in Farmington, where medical examiners are conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
