Police Spot Gun in Man’s Pocket During Interview: Stratford PD

The man was arrested on gun charges as part of an ongoing investigation into a drive-by shooting that occurred in Stratford.

Stratford, CT — A Bridgeport man was arrested on gun charges as part of an ongoing investigation into a drive-by shooting that occurred in Stratford in March, according to police.

Jaqhan Potts, 21, was arrested in Stratford on June 27 on charges of carrying a handgun without a permit and illegal transfer of a firearm.

“Based on observation and information developed during the investigation, officers identified Potts as an associate of the victim of the drive by (shooting),” Lt. Frank Eannotti said in a press release. “When officers saw Potts walking on Larkin Court they stopped to speak with him. At this time, one of the officers saw the handgun partially sticking out of Potts’ pocket.”

Police seized the weapon and Potts was placed under arrest.

Eannotti said that the investigation into the March shooting continues.

Potts was held on a $50,000 bond.
